Sanchia Brandenburg (pre- school teacher) discussing her son, Tyler (3) My son, Tyler, received his EasiRider Balance bike shortly after his second birthday.  Due to the EasiRider’s light frame, he was able to manipulate it within a short time.  Although his feet just managed to touch the ground, he was still able to ride with ease.  He has now had it for more than a year and not only has it provided him with hours of fun, his balance and co-ordination has improved immensely. In the December of 2009, Tyler proceeded onto a two wheeler pedal bike within an hour, at the age of 3 and a half. Read More Comments from Parents

  FAQ (frequently asked questions)

Q.  At what age will my child be able to use an EasiRider balance bike?

A. Children start to become more active around 18 months, but as children develop differently we recommend from two years old. We do have 18 month old children enjoying EasiRider, and we have others who only take to the bike at three. It also depends on the height of your child, this is why EasiRider was designed to offer as many seat height options as possible. The Easi-seat and frame adjustment design  ensures that the balance bike will be your child’s best friend for at least four years.

Q. Is the Bike very heavy?

A. No. EaisRider bikes only weigh 3.3 kilograms. We did this to ensure that the child is always able to control the bike and not be over powered by it.

Q. How is the bike manufactured?

A. Your child’s safety is our first priority so we use the highest quality materials available at the time of manufacture. EasiRider is handmade using ABS plastic sheeting and was designed to keep manufacturing costs as low as possible, without jeopardising the quality of the product. The bikes are manufactured using the wealth of experience of the team at Clear Design; we are hoping to move EasiRider to its own workshop soon.

Q. Are spare parts available?

A. Yes, spare parts can be obtained from your agent or directly from EasiRider.

Q. Why are there no pedals on the EasiRider balance bike?

A. The primary design focus of the EasiRider balance bike was to allow children to develop their gross motor skills. Learning to balance and steer the bike is much easier without pedals. The up and down movement of pedalling causes the child to shift their body weight from side to side—throwing them off balance making them lose direction and riding stability. EasiRider allows the child to drop their feet to the ground when they feel they are losing balance, quickly steadying themselves and preventing a fall.

Q. How many bikes have been sold?

A. EasiRider balance bike was launched in November 2008 and to date we have sold over 450 bikes in South Africa. We have sent a number of bikes to the UK and Australia and hope to set up agencies there during the year.

Q. Where can I view the bike?

A.  The bikes can be viewed at Clear Design in Cape Town. We also have a number of local stockists.

Q. If I own a hardware store can I become a retailer for the EasiRider balance bike?

A.  Yes, please email fun@easirider.co.za to arrange a meeting.

Q. I do not live in South Africa, can you send me a bike?

A. Yes, we can. Shipping costs will be for your own account, but to help keep these costs down we will ship the bike from our closest agent to you.

Q. Can we get the bike at a cheaper price?

A. Not at this time, as EasiRider is new to the market we have asked all our agents to sell the balance bike at the same price we would sell it from the factory door.

Q. Can I pay by credit card?

A. Yes, we accept MasterCard or Visa credit cards as well as debit cards.
